Event Venue Website Design: High Desert Event Center

Event Venue Website Design: High Desert Event Center

By on Jan 10, 2014 in Blog, Portfolio, Web Design, Website Redesign

The San Bernardino County Fairgrounds is host to one of the biggest annual fairs in Southern California. They are very well known for the annual San Bernardino County Fair, but many people are unaware that they are an actual full service venue with several on-site properties that can accommodate everything from a wedding party to  full blown trade shows.  This year they started a rebranding campaign and have changed their name to the High Desert Event Center. Along with the name change, they also needed a new website that would let their visitors now that they are much more than just a place to host the annual fair.  Their previous website featured one main image at the top of the site that they would change when a new event would come up. The site also had three content sections below the featured image that contained static content throughout the year. After speaking with the client, we knew exactly what they needed. This new site screams EVENT VENUE! The first thing you’ll notice is the unique featured image section at the top. Normally, this section may contain a featured slider which slides or swaps out images and content with with new images and content. Those work great, but one disadvantage to that is who really waits around to view all the slides? Your website visitors expect to come to your site and find what they are looking for without having to have to wait for a slider. That’s where this four featured image section comes in. It allows the client to feature the four most important items on their site without forcing the visitor to wait for each slide. The content is always available to them. Next comes the three content columns. These content sections allow us to split the site up into categories that feature the latest news, posts, photo galleries and videos while keeping a nice neatly organized presentation. There’s no doubt that one visit to this site and you’ll know that they are a full blown event venue center and not just a place to go for the annual fair. The site just recently launched, therefore some of the current content may look repetitive, but that will not...

Website Redesign Project: Pueblo Viejo Grill Mexican Food Restaurant

Website Redesign Project: Pueblo Viejo Grill Mexican Food Restaurant

By on Oct 14, 2013 in Blog, Portfolio, Web Design, Website Redesign

Sometimes a complete website redesign is not always a good idea for your site unless you will be adding substantial value for your web visitors or if the design is very outdated. In the case of Pueblo Viejo Grill Mexican Restaurant, both were the cases. Pueblo Viejo Grill’s (PVG) original website was designed a few years back, and at the time, it only required a simple one page layout for their single Indio California location. Now that PVG has added a second location in Palm Desert, the time was right to come up with a new website design layout that would encompass what PVG was all about. And that would be, their authentic Mexican food. With a big photo slider top and center, their Mexican dishes are the stars of this new site. There’s no way that you will not want to eat at Pueblo Viejo Grill once you see all the delicious food on their website. Another must have feature that will add value for their website visitors is the blog. The blog will feature information about their dishes, events and other articles of interest for their target audience. Web content marketing will play a big hand with their new site as will social media in order to spread the word to more people about Pueblo Viejo Grill. As you can see from the picture below, the new site is a big step up from their previous website. The site will feature photos of their actual Mexican food, drinks and the restaurants, as well as an area at the bottom that lists their current special offers and events. Expect the new redesigned website to launch toward the end of November. You can view their current site at www.puebloviejogrill.com. Does your business website need a new look? Is there a better way to get your message across to your consumers? The answer lies in web content marketing. Internet content marketing is the process of writing as well as distributing valuable and relevant content. Its aim is to attract and engage a defined target audience. What Type of Content will Drive Visits to Your Website? There are different types of content that can attract customers. Here are some examples. Infographics: Infographics are common and very effective on social media platforms.  They are an image of a chart or diagram that displays a certain topic, data or information in a fun way. To make the most of your graphic, mention the URL of your website in the graphic. Blogs: You can use blog posts to provide more information on a certain topic, to elicit feedback from visitors, to link to other articles, for product/service information and more. What Is Social Media? What does ‘social media’ mean to you? Billions of people have accounts on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google+. You may think all social media networks are the same, but each of them offers a unique feature that attracts millions of people to each of them. So how would you define social media? Social media can be defined as an interactive platform, a virtual community where people can create and share information. The content on social media sites is built by users, which is one of the reasons why these platforms are so popular. Social media can itself be divided into various categories. Here is a brief list. Social networking: Users interact by joining groups, adding friends, commenting on their profiles and taking part in discussions. Example: Facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn and Orkut. Social bookmarking: Users tag websites and visit websites that other people have bookmarked. Example: Pinterest, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Digg, and Del.icio.us. Social News Websites: Users interact by voting on articles and writing comments. Example: Reddit, Digg and Fark. Wikis: Most people are still divided about whether Wiki sites are true social media sites. Here, users interact by writing articles and editing articles that already exist. Example: Wikipedia. In regular media like newspapers and television, the end consumers’ ability to give feedback and comments is severely restricted. Social media places nearly no restrictions on its users. Quick Social Media Guide: Here is a brief social media guide to help you understand the most popular social media networks better.
